Before choosing a lampshade, inspect your lamp’s fitting. Our lampshades have an E27 fitting ring and include a reducer ring for a compatible E14 lamp holder.
What E27 and E14 mean
E27 and E14 identify screw-base bulb formats and their corresponding lamp holders. For a lampshade, you also need to check how its ring fits onto the lamp holder. The E27 or E14 marking on a bulb alone does not confirm that the complete lamp will accept the shade.
What the reducer ring does
The reducer ring adapts the lampshade’s fitting opening for a compatible E14 lamp holder. It does not turn an E27 lamp holder into an E14 holder or change the bulb base. It is a mechanical lampshade part, not an electrical adapter.
What to check
- Switch off and unplug the lamp before inspecting it.
- Identify how the shade is held in place and whether a shade-retaining ring is present.
- Check whether you need a shade for a lamp base or for a pendant.
- Check the dimensions, bulb clearance and the lamp manufacturer’s instructions.
When to ask for advice
Harp fittings, clip-on shades and some vintage bases may require another solution. Do not force a part into place or modify electrical components to make a shade fit. A clear close-up of the fitting, together with a photo of the whole lamp, will help us advise you.
